Vaughan is an Advanced Paramedic/Firefighter with Dublin Fire Brigade. He is a member of the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue team with 18 years service and instructs on various courses including REC, Wilderness E.M.T., ACLS and International Trauma Life Support.
Wilderness activities include canadian canoeing, climbing and the occasional caving trip.
